This being the first blog post, I thought I'd tell you a little bit about who I am and what I do - and also what you can expect from my blog posts.

First - I am a 27 year old artist, father and graphic designer living in Nashville, TN with my amazing wife and son, Amanda & Colin. I pay the bills by working as the main designer at Smyrna Graphics, which is great because I get to actually use my talents and my degree at work every day. I mostly design print advertising - I recently got to do the Comcast ad that was in the RedPlum circular, and it was pretty awesome to know that something of mine was in everyone's mailboxes.


In my spare time (what's left of it - having a kid definitely takes over your life), I like to draw and paint - I've been working on a series of trees lately that are kind of surreal, with vibrant colors and bold lines. It started with a piece I did for a friend for Christmas and each new piece is getting brighter and cleaner.


I've also started working with Berry Interesting Productions to try and make my freelance work into a business that can hopefully one day be my main source of income. We have already written a business plan, which was challenging to say the least, and now we're working on getting some financing and building our website.

So, as for what you can expect from my blog posts... well, I guess I'll be sharing websites and news stories that I find interesting and related to graphic design, as well as keeping you all updated on what's going on with me professionally. I'm not really sure how this will play out, but stay tuned, because i'll be updating you about something every week or so.
